From the experts – Interview Tips
Here are some Dos' and Don’ts while attending an interview:
Dos':
- Go with good preparation and confidence.
- Prepare a checklist regarding the date, time, venue, & certificates before you attend an interview.
- Be on time. Remember that you are in need of a job and not the interviewer.
- First Impression is the best Impression. Carry a good smile, get dressed professionally, always maintain eye contact and when given a handshake give a firm handshake.
- Take an extra copy of your CV and photograph.
- Ask the employer questions regarding the company.
- Do a self-research about the company for which you will be attending an interview.
- Be honest!
- Check for any gaps in your CV and work towards correcting them before hand.
- Do not forget to use Salutations once you are done with the interview.
Don’ts:
- Never face an interview without preparation.
- Many job seekers do not realize that showing up too early often creates a poor first impression.
- Never talk too much. Always answer to the point.
- Never talk negatively about your current/past employer.
- The first signs of nervousness are verbal ticks. Therefore avoid them.
- Never let the employer feel that you are not interested. If you sometimes have trouble with eye-contact balance, work this issue out ahead of time in an interview practice session with a friend.
- It is impossible to make a good first impression if you cannot communicate effectively. Therefore work towards getting your communication right.
